What Are Plastic Laminate Toilet Partitions?
Also known as high-pressure laminate (HPL) partitions, plastic laminate toilet partitions feature a decorative laminate surface bonded to a durable particleboard core. This creates a smooth, stain-resistant finish that offers the look of high-end materials without the cost.
While not recommended for high-moisture environments like shower stalls, these plastic laminate bathroom partitions perform exceptionally well in standard restrooms with proper ventilation.
Construction and Material Details
Metpar’s plastic laminate partitions are constructed using:
- 45 lb. resin-infused particleboard core for stability and strength
- High-pressure decorative laminate is applied under heat and pressure to both sides of the core
- Edge banding and pre-lamination bonding for improved water runoff, longer lifespan, and reduced risk of delamination
- Nominal 1" thick doors and panels and 1-1/4" thick pilasters
- Chrome-plated Zamac die-cast brackets for panel and pilaster connections

Privacy Series
Standard
Standard series includes 58” high doors and panels that are mounted 12” above the finished floor. Additional options include no-sight doors (privacy strips) and full-length continuous brackets. This series is the industry standard.
Dorian - Privacy!
Dorian series includes 64” high doors and panels that are mounted 6” above the finished floor. Full-length continuous brackets and privacy strips for no-sight doors are included. Enhanced level of privacy compared to standard series.
Dorian Max - Privacy!
Dorian Max series includes 72” high doors and panels that are mounted 6” above the finished floor. Full-length continuous brackets and privacy strips for no-sight doors are included. Head-to-toe king of ultimate privacy!
Toilet Partition Mounting Styles
Overhead Braced
Created for areas where high strength is required and installation considerations prevent other toilet partition options. Headrail is used for additional strength. Most popular style.
Floor Mounted
Floor mounted structure is ideal for restrooms with concrete floors. It provides a consistent appearance across the top of panels and pilasters for a modern look. Headrail is not required.
Ceiling Hung
This style provides for unobstructed floor space beneath the stalls. Floor-to-ceiling pilasters can be added to provide maximum strength and durability.
Floor to Ceiling
Recommended for rooms with low to medium height ceilings where additional stability is desired. Maximum recommended floor-to-ceiling height of 96". Requires ceiling reinforcement.
Construction Features
Plastic Laminate Material
High-pressure decorative laminate over three-ply core, resin impregnated, 45-pound density particle board. Edge laminates are applied before face laminates.
Anti-Grip Headrail
Bright-dipped aluminum headrail to match chrome hardware for a coordinated uniform appearance. The top is pointed, resulting in an “anti-grip” top structure to prevent hanging from the partition.
Pin Insert
Top of the door features a heavy-duty 3/8" diameter chrome plated steel pin with a nylon insert for smooth operation. Hardware is constructed of zamac die cast metal.
Bottom Gravity Hinge
Bottom of the door features a unique "no rise" self-closing adjustable cam. Hardware is constructed of zamac die cast metal.
U Brackets
Pilasters are connected to the panels with U brackets, providing a structurally strong and tight connection. Hardware is constructed of zamac die cast metal.
Pilaster Shoe
Each pilaster has a 3” high #4 finish stainless steel plinth (shoe) beautifully connecting the bottom of the pilaster to the floor, aesthetically hiding the floor mountings and any visible drill holes. (Image shown on solid plastic material).
Door Stop/Surface Latch
The door stop consists of a wrap-around strike and keeper and the door lock is an aluminum (bright/polished finish) surface slide latch. (Image shown on solid plastic material).
Premium Options
Stainless Steel Hardware
All hardware is available in #4 brushed stainless steel for an extra durable appearance & even longer-lasting product lifetime. This material is heavy duty and will not rust. (Hardware displayed for metal partitions.)
Full Height Brackets
All pilaster-to-wall, pilaster-to-panel and panel-to-wall can be upgraded to be secured with beautiful full height bright anodized aluminum brackets. (Image shown on solid plastic material).
Privacy Strips
Heavy duty aluminum privacy strips eliminate any sight gaps on each side of the door. One strip on the latch side acts as a continuous door stop, while the other is positioned between the upper and lower hinge, eliminating any chance of “peeking” into the stalls. Increasingly, privacy is now a priority. (Image shown on powder coated material).
Multi-Cam Hinge
A full-height (bottom of door to top of door) MultiCam hinge is available to eliminate any gaps on the hinge side of each partition door for ultimate privacy. (Image shown on phenolic material).
FT Mountings on FP Pilasters
If you’re looking for a heavier-duty floor mounted on Overhead Braced (FP) partitions, you can upgrade to heavier-duty floor mounted (FT) partition floor mounts. This provides a more sturdy and heavier-duty mounting option for extra-base/structural stability and support.
